Parasitsonetterne – Book cover, Gyldendal

Martin Andersen’s Parasitsonetterne (The Parasitic Sonnets) derives its name from the book’s parasitic relationship to one of modern Danish poetry’s seminal works, Inger Christensen’s Sommerfugledalen – et requiem (“Butterfly Valley: A Requiem”). It explores the book, generating computational poetry from it.

The dust jacket (above) features a butterfly with a machine-like attachment – an illustration of the book as a technical parasite on Butterfly Valley. The hard cover (below) shows one of the book’s many diagrams, using the palette from the dust cover’s butterfly.
