Noget om Vitus – Book cover, Gyldendal

Noget om Vitus (About Vitus), the first novel by Sigurd Hartkorn Plaetner, is about big emotions, from deepest despair to delirious happiness. It is also a book where sickness and death play important roles.

For both these reasons an anatomical depiction of a human heart seemed appropriate. A heart is probably the symbol of emotion, but in an anatomical context it also refers to life and death, or at least something different than a simple love story. The image of the heart is from a historic plate, striking in itself, with the author’s name and the title scrawled across it.
