Purity – Book cover (Gyldendal)

Jonathan Franzen’s Purity is a complex novel, with multiple storylines spanning more than fifty years and several countries. That might be the reason why all editions so far (that I have been able to find) are either completely abstract or feature just a woman’s face, presumably that of Purity Tyler, the eponymous main character.

This second Danish edition has a Purity Tyler on it, but also tries to incorporate some of the novel’s many themes: surveillance, long-ranging and surprising interconnectedness, modern America, and faraway lands. Printed on uncoated paper with the text on the front in gold foil.

Published by Gyldendal, 2016. Edited by Stinne Lender.
